Corporate In-House Counsel (Reinsurance)Location:New York City, NYCompany Overview:Our company is a leading player in the insurance and reinsurance industry, with a strong presence in New York City. We are seeking an experienced Corporate In-House Counsel to join our legal team. As a key member of our organization, you will provide legal advice, guidance, and support related to reinsurance transactions and other corporate matters.Responsibilities:

• Reinsurance Transactions:Negotiate and draft a wide range of reinsurance transactions, including life/annuity reinsurance agreements.
• Legal Compliance:Stay informed about new laws, regulations, and caselaw impacting the insurance and reinsurance industry. Provide advice and counsel to internal stakeholders on legal implications.
• Risk Mitigation:Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with reinsurance contracts, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Contract Review:Review and analyze reinsurance contracts, identifying key terms, conditions, and potential risks.
• Collaboration:Work closely with internal business units, external counsel, and other stakeholders to address legal issues and achieve business objectives.
• Supervision:Oversee outside counsel when necessary, ensuring effective legal representation.
• Corporate Governance:Assist with corporate governance matters, including board meetings, regulatory compliance, and corporate policies.Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree:Must be a licensed attorney in the state of New York.
  • Experience:At least 5 years of legal experience, with a focus on reinsurance transactions.
  • Industry Knowledge:Strong understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industry, including relevant laws and regulations.
  • Negotiation Skills:Proven ability to negotiate complex reinsurance agreements.
  • Analytical Thinking:Ability to analyze legal issues, assess risks, and provide practical solutions.
  • Collaborative Approach:Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
